in coffee I am observing that primary callus is mainly formed on the midrib section and the lateral veins present on the leaf. the callus doesn't form on all the 4 sides of the leaves except the midrib. why is it so? can we induce the callus formation from the other sides as well?
I may be very wrong, but maybe it has something to do with the differentiation potential of cambium cells in leaf veins!
I am not an expert on this subject, but it seems to me to be the result of the differential distribution of plant growth regulators. I suggest looking at how these regulators are transported in the xylem and phloem, tissues present in the veins. In addition, parenchyma cells in the cortical region of the veins may have more ability to dedifferentiate, initiating a new callus.
