Polyacetal homopolymer is produced from formaldehyde in industrial scale. The monomer is in gasous state and it needs a tedious purification process.

Trioxane is an alternative monomer for production of polyacetal homopolymer. Trioaxane is solid at room temperature and its handling is more easier. I don't know why trioxane isn't used in commercial production of Polyacetal homopolymer.
