Procedure: Split supernatent into three individual samples A, B, C and do 20% NH4SO4 cut on sample A, 40% cut on sample B, and 60% cut on sample C. Add granulated ammonium sulfate NOT a saturated solution.

Western blot reveals that 20% NH4SO4 cut contains most of the protein in the pellet.

Why is this so?

Should 40% and 60% cuts not contain just as much if not more of the protein. If the protein precpiates at 20% why would the other NH4SO4 cuts not pull it down as well.
