The explants can be regenerated quite easily into a complete plant when they are not infected with Agrobacterium. But, once the explants are infected with Agrobacterium carrying the transgene, the regeneration process becomes difficult and time consuming. What is the reason for this. Also, what could be the changes that occur in a plant at metabolite level, hormonal level, protein level after transformation with Agrobacterium carrying transgene?

Regeneration is usually complicated because now the explant of the plant has a superinfection by Agrobacterium, for this reason recalcitrance usually occurs. You must be sure that after Agrobacterium.mediated transformation, you eliminate the bacteria with antibiotics such as Cefotaxime or Timentin.
