We are not immortal so why do we do things that makes us feel that we are immortal? Why are we not satisfied with what has been given to us and with what we have achieved? Scholars from theology to biology have tried to come up with answers to these questions for a long-time, but usually end up with a non-reducible answer - death is a mere transition and not the end.

We get fear, if and only if we know at what time/date we would die. If death comes unwarranted, we would never know whether we were scared while we died. If it is a death due to prolonged illness, we would welcome our death. But one poet has said "the person who is prepared to receive the death will always be happy and comfortable" !!!
Because of worldly attractions, we fear of death in spite of knowing that one day we must have to die.
Death is a hard truth while life is beautiful lie. No body likes a hard truth.
Fear of death seems quite linked to what´s called "ego" and can decrease (even dissolve) with the kind of perspective that might be taken by things such as oxygen deprivation, entheogens, yoga, meditation, acute loss, life crisis, psychological/spiritual growth... etc
Why is death feared when we know that we were born to die?
Everyone knows they will die one day but they don't know when that day will come. There are factors causing people to fear death in which achievement & age are 2 of them. E.g. when a person have a lot of achievement (in terms of money, power & status etc.) and want to enjoy the fruits of his / her labor / fortunes, usually s/he will fear death more than a poor person / person without a lot of achievement because nothing much to loose when they die. Secondly, when a person is young usually s/he will not afraid of death or willing to take more risk in many things they do. However, when a person is getting old, s/he fear death or prefer to avoid any kind of risk if possible so that they can have more time to live in this world.
Because we do not know what happened after death and the body ruins after death, and love our body and fear of ruin of our body.
Death is certain & not in our hand .With our arrival on this holy earth , death remains a part of our destiny which is nothing but the resulting fruits of our previous lives .
We fear death as for us it remain an illusion . With this we have a fear of death as for our working life with the loving care of the family & children , we have established & attachment within us which create in us a negative & disturbing feeling for our life as we are fully aware that in our last journey,we are leaving our life with empty hands .

not only death anything whatever inconsistence to our usual lifestyle we are fear about that. Death make full inconsistency to our living body, we like the things which go consistence fully with our living body. after death it is impossible to get back the consuatency, so we fear to loose the consistency of living body.

Hi everyone! I believe we fear the unknown. No one knows for sure what happens after death. We also fear loss. With death we loose everything we know, most importantly we loose the love of others, even if they might preserve that love, we don't know if we will be able to feel it anymore. We do things that make us feel immortal so people who know us will not forget us. We want to make sure we leave something behind to keep our memory alive in others.

The is death feared due to instructions produced by the specialists, who are making the biznes on it. It is easy to name them.
Life is the same. When there is birth, there will be death. During this process of life and death, we have to consider our profits and losses. If we do not put in an effort to uplift ourselves, we may lose our human status in the next life, and this will certainly be a loss! If we improve ourselves and become a better person in this life, then we will create good prospects for our future.
When we talk about life and death, some think that death means the end of everything. Thus, we must first clarify these misunderstandings about "death" before we discuss "life". People normally have a fear of death. In fact, death is nothing to be afraid of. This is analogous to the businessman who runs a good business at all times and manages it well until the closure of the financial year. When the New Year comes he will certainly enjoy a comfortable life. Therefore, as long as we have prepared well during our lives, we should be happy when we are healthy, and should not be frightened when sickness or even death comes.

We do not consciously know when we were born but we do know well when we are about to die after being aware of our existence. Dying is an eternal and an all time disappearance from the physical existence we consciously know, the one we fight for it and love to live good and be successful in society or hate it if not and fight to make it work. To suddenly disappear from this existence, to separate from loved ones, friends and from life we lived in happiness with lasting memories in our minds and memories we kept on walls of our homes for ever in to oblivion, is a scary feeling and difficult to convince our mind that it is okay to die and see it as one natural process. It requires a huge intellectual and cognitive work to convince self indeed that dying is not a scary phenomena as long as we rationalize what effects we made to society than to our selves, if we achieved what we intend to achieve and know we are on the declining side of the parabola of life biologically. Besides dying for all time means actually is not for all time but for an instant time. For a dead person time stops to count and there is no that notion of eternity and there should not be fear of being in that state for all time. We even do not know how long we slept, only we know when we see our watches that we slept for such hours long without feeling the length.

Everything with a beginning must surely comes to an end. However, fear of unknown: time of death, where and how brings fear.
Death is like a surprise deadline (excuse the pun). One has projects underway that one wants to complete, obligations that have been deferred that one needs to fulfill -- the fear of unfinished business....
And It's not only one's own death that is to be feared in this sense; there may be lots of old friends and acquaintances that one had been meaning to look up until it was too late, lots of unfinished conversations and lost opportunities....

Eventhough we know all we die one day, we r trying to pursue life with lot of commitments, goals, wishes, etc. So inorder to complete al the said tasks we may get fear to death
Death is the closing of human life, the beginning of his absence in his environment. For some, it triggers a fear for people with whom he lived and was connected. In others, I fear for myself. This is egocentric fear in those who believe in life after death.
To move from ego and consciousness to nothing is frightening surely?
In the ancient world one way to resolve this indigestible fact was to carve their name in stone so their name and knowledge of their lives would last. We do similar things now, grabbing fame in order to live forever in others' memories.
