I treated cells with a toxic compound and was trying to find the most suitable treatment concentration. After performing a cell viability test, I saw that the middle concentration reduced the cell viability, but higher concentrations did not cause a reduction in cell viability. Does someone know what the reason could be?

Have you ever observed your cells by a microscope after being treated with high concentration of the toxic compound besides using cell viability reagent? Were they really in a good condition?
To be honest, I guess this toxic compound shows a bit a reducing effect so that in high concentration its remnant within the cells would reduce the cell viability reagent (if you use MTT, XTT, WST, etc.). So, this happening may be misinterpreted as a result of the cell viability.
Another possibility is that the compound was not soluble at the higher concentration and precipitated/crystallized.
