I am trying to move a plywood sheet sandwiched between two identical sheets with a long screw passing through them. I have managed to achieve movement and results by applying a displacement in a step on the middle sheet but when I come to apply a pressure instead, the test is aborted with a warning "displacement increment for contact is too big". What might be the problem? Attached are images of my set up and result for displacement

You have to check the type of contact element or the interaction between the two surfaces, try also to check the entered values of contact stiffness and coefficient of friction. What type of interaction did you apply at the interface between the two parts ?
If the problem persists even after the contact properties and the type of contact are checked, try decreasing the minimum size of the increment and increasing the number of increments and also check out the mesh size with respect to the master and slave definitions.

Dear Mr Mabrouk, I have assigned two steps for now. In the initial step I have created a General Contact and selected "all with self" with a frictionless global property assignment which propagates to the next step. In step 1 ( where the pressure is applied) I have chosen surface to surface contact and created a contact interaction property defining a normal behaviour as "Hard Contact" and a tangential behaviour with a friction penalty of 0.5 and left the other settings as default.
Can anyone help me with the same problem? I have attached the input file.
