CAR-T is kind of common strategy. I also saw people use iNKT cell to express CAR. What's the benefit of using iNKT cell instead of T cell?
It seems that CAR-T cell could be toxic to recipient body, because TCR on T cell recognizes recipient as foreign. But for iNKT cell, its TCR only recognize CD1d and only a limited of cells express CD1d, so it won't be as toxic as T cell. Is this could be one of the reason?

Great question. At iQ Biosciences, we work with a variety of CAR-T, CAR-NK, or CARMA based projects for safety assessment where results from these projects are submitted as part of an IND filing package. When using pan T cells, these have functional heterogeneity of different T cell subsets etc (CD4 vs CD8, naive, memory, etc). In the case of iNKT cells, these are relatively more homogenous with the advantage that CD1d is non-polymorphic and is highly conserved across species, including individual humans which could provide for a more consistent cellular product.
