I work with Giardia intestinalis and I'm trying to perform an IFA on those cells, but no matter how many cells I pipette on the coverslip they tend to fall off, and I end up with very few cells, when I'm viewing the slides. I pre-treat the coverslips with PEI (polyethylimine) and then let cells attach for 30 min at 37C and then fix them with 4% PFA for 40 min at RT.

I agree with YA. PLL is pretty much a standard for attaching cells. Also, why not try using ECM coated plates if the problem still persists.
