I am working on potato. 4 weeks after the culture of potato tubers in pot, I have been culturing internodes of them in proliferation media (MS medium) without any hormone for a while and during the last passage, I found out that the explants start to abnormal callus shape grow on the leaves and stems. This condition is sometimes so severe that the leaves looks curled (its photo is attached). I am not sure what is going on. Anyone with an experience or suggestion as to how I resolve this problem?

I think that the mother plants my be infected with a virus. You can start with in vitro plants free of viruses.
I think that the mother plant is infected with a virus,please confirm it.If it is virus free & still it gives same problem then use auxin and kinetin in different combination for proper differentiation of the callus.
check the concentration of the growth regulators you sdded into the growth edium
Monitor your pH , ethylene generation and subculturing duration
