Among Biofuel, Solar, Wind & Water; The best Energy Source in future may be Solar Energy.
The best Energy Source in future may be Geothermal which is continuous dislike intermittent Solar and Wind. It has great potential like a sun.
There is one more energy source coming up, specially for cars and airtransport: Hydrogen.
It's some risky to say "the best one" in general. The best one for what? (environment, cost availability, sustainability, easy access, usability, storage feasability,,,) Solar seems the best for individual buildings (eventually combined with geothermal). Wind is OK for distribution, but generators should not occupy land instead of trees (neither solar panels should), not fil up the seas and kill birds, mess up landscape, etc, Hydraulic has been sinds many time a good sustainable solution but is limited and only possible in countries with mountains, like Norway, Switzerland... Also generating power from seawaves. Not all biofuels are sustainable: they must have a sustainable origin.
The best thing is to take advantage of renewable energy available in any region. I think solar energy is in the areas where it is available and is often the most influential of most renewable energy.
Wind will be energy source Nr. 1 in windy regions and solar energy will be source Nr. 1 in other regions where potential of wind energy is low.
With great respect to all; As on date the wind and Solar are nature dependable and intermittent. So can not rely on them. An energy efficient mass-level storage subsystem is required for their use. Till that date we may have to depend on Conventional type only so as to run the machines in Industrial revolution 4.0
Efforts are being made to improve the efficiency of each energy source. Talking about the largest source in the future, will mostly depend on the geo-meteorological conditions and the available technology of each regions.
The only sources that can be available for all regions in every time, is the waste. It should be noted that with the increase in population, the amount of waste is increasing and studies showed that this waste can produce many kinds of energy with good efficiency and less effects on the ecological system, if the process and its parameters are well selected.

The most visible of the leaders are solar and wind energy, but hydroelectric energy has been a renewable resource for a long time, too. And although biomass is a relative newcomer, at least as far as awareness goes, it’s also a viable solution for a variety of applications.
Biomass can also help with increasing the diversity of energy mix while repurposing waste materials into feedstock for clean power. None of these renewable energy sources is a magic fix for energy costs, energy security or the environment all on their own. But when considered as a whole, they can be an important part of the journey to cleaner energy and a more resilient grid.

There is no one single best power resource for supplying energy. It depends upon the application, location and technology available where the resource is needed. In general, a preference for sustainable resources is preferable, though a diverse resource portfolio is essential to the smooth operation of the energy grid. In the US Great Plains, for example, there is abundant wind resource for electric generation as well as agricultural residue for biogas production. In the US Desert Southwest, the availability of sunlight supports solar power, especially distributed rooftop solar generation. The implementation of each of these resources into the energy grid need to be placed into the context of the existing grid of wires and pipes in their location To provide operational security.
Each resource has weaknesses as to reliability and availability so other types of resources will be needed and integrated into the system to assure 24/7/365 availability. In adddition to environmental considerations, costs need to be evaluated, as well as system impacts. A migration strategy should be considered as abrupt changes can have have catastrophic economic and systemic consequences as the 1974 Oil Crisis showed.
Research into how to fit new, sustainable resources into the energy network should be conducted, a plan laid out and the transition pursued in a way that is affordable and beneficial.

Biogas will also, especially once the science of anaerobic digestion of agricultural residues - manures, crop residue, straw - is improved and gas yields are maximized. Natural gas is a good transition fuel. Turbine technology is proven and cost effective, natural gas is available (and replaceable with RNG as production ramps up) and it provides a reliable source of generating fuel for the hours when sustainable resources like wind and solar are not available or reduced.

No doubt, solar has pinch among others. But, solar integrated hydrogen based fuel cell is considered best in future energy source.

For present day available technological limitations, solar with battery may be good. But we may not get quality and consistent output as achieved in Fuel Cell. These two technological advantages are notably increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of solar energy. In general, renewable energy sources are evolving towards more efficient, optimal and competitive practices. In my opinion, there will be no supreme energy source. The energy supply will be the product of the combination of various renewable energy sources and also, the combination of these with non-renewable energy sources. The energy intensity of modern society does not allow us to choose a single source of energy in the short or medium term. Efficient management of different energy sources is necessary to sustain the current global socioeconomic model. Energy efficiency in energy consumption must also be considered, it has a very important role in the energy, ecological and economic sustainability of current and future societies.
Every source has its own advantages and disadvantages. But more research on developing usage of renewable energy is good for the present prevailing situations.
