It is a 2-step process: first evaporate the MeOH, staying under 40°C; then you reach a point when the evaporation slows down a lot and it you monittor pressure on the rotary evaporator you see it going down: you've got only water lefet and evaporating it is not going to be efficient unless you drastically increase temperature, which is not good. At this point you should evaporating and switch to freeze-dry.

This is optimization problem. You can achieve the target either by increasing temperature or reducing pressure below atmospheric pressure.
