I am investigating frequencies of a sulci in hemispheres of human brains. These are reported as either present (1) or absent (0). Each individual in three disease groups will have a result for each hemisphere.
1. I wish to first analyse the degree of asymmetry between hemispheres in each group
2. Compare asymmetries between groups
How should this be done?

For the asymmetry between hemispheres in each group you can use paired t test (or a non-parametric equivalent if your sample size is too small), for the asymmetry between 3 groups you have to do a one-way anova (or non-parametric)
