I have started my Ph.D research on "Coupling of Sulfur and Nitrate cycle in Wastewater Treatment". So the question is that what parameters i should check to recycle Sulfur and Nitrate in Waste Water..
Nitrogen in effluent system, is available as organic nitrogen, (especially in protein) inorganic nitrogen such as NOx- ( NO3- and NO2-) and ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3-N). However, availability of nitrogen species mentioned above is depend on the pH, oxic or anoxic conditions and other parameters of the effluent treatment system. Therefore, it is important to study about the nitrogen species mentioned above and Total nitrogen. In addition, you have to determine all basic water quality/treatment parameters (TSS, TS, COD BOD etc...) to understand the behaviors/budget of nitrogen in the system.
Level of sulfur compound is not much higher than the nitrogen in general effluents.
However, sulfur compound in general wastewater system is available as H2S and SO2 and sulfate (sulfite is unstable) and very really as Sulfur. However, again, speciation of sulfur in water treatment system depends on the oxic and anoxic conditions. Therefore, it important to consider the parameters mention above.
For basic understands, document available at the link given below is important.
Father, it is recommended that comprehensive literature review prior to start the your works.
Thanks for your valuable and informative reply. I think discussing my research problems with you can reduce the work load and can solve my problems..
Actually I am at the starting stage of my research. in my Master studies i have done a research which was mainly related to statistical analysis of rainfall data. so this type of research i am doing for the first time. therefore it is a humble request that sir if you have any related material with sulfur and Nitrate removal for wastewater, plz share with me, because the one paper you share is very beneficial for me and i have find much related terminology in that paper.. my email is [email protected]..
Thank you sir Augustine Ifelebuegu for your valuable and informative reply. As you told me that i should consider the analytical capability available to you to determine the best method for Nitrogen removal. so can you suggest me some best methods for Nitrogen removal.
For sulfur removal i have studied many research papers. there are various methods for sulfur removal in the research papers. Could you please suggest me some best methods which i can apply for sulfur removal in wastewater treatment.
