I already have a lovely family and a gainful employment; I feel good. But I still desire to be a Professor in my discipline. Time will answer to the question.

My answer is: "I would feel good if I could settle conflicts in a positive way, cope better with my anger against injustice and being able to contribute to a more peaceful society". I believe this doesn't necessarily stop me from enjoying the other options. There is this poem by American poet Ogden Nash, in which he adresses the most famous argument against being rich. You say that there are things that you can't buy with money. Well, Nash asked, "Have you ever tried to buy the same things without money?"
Be a human in the real sense is at the foundation of it all. With this, one is able to pursue any profession, be faithful and be all the other things mentioned. Without being true to oneself everything becaomes a mirage, an illusion and phony.
Neglecting to set goals. Having goals gives you hope and the ability to look forward to a better future, and working toward those goals makes you feel good about yourself and your abilities. It's important to set goals that are challenging, specific (and measurable), and driven by your personal values. Without goals, instead of learning and improving yourself, you just plod along wondering why things never change.
