I have to model a dipole antenna (2.4GHz) and then see the power transmitted by that antenna when it is inserted about 1000 meters down a hole. I would like to know the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of the surrounding rocks. Which simulation tool should I use, CST, COMSOL, Ansys or any other that you might suggest? Thank you.

I agree with Dr. Gräbner about CST.
In particular, assuming you are interested in a narrow frequency band and a short section of your rocky hole, I would focus on the FEM module of CST.
If you want to model the entire problem, which is many orders of magnitude the dimension of your wavelenght (a practice that I discourage), you can try the Integral Equation module.

@ Giancarlo: Thank you for your reply. To be more specific about my problem, the surrounding rocks will mostly be of crude oil in form of wax. I want to know the rise in temperature of the rocks, lets say, after the antenna has been radiating for an hour. My question now is, would CST allow me to model the rock formation as well?

Your application seems nicely fitted to the transient solver of CST. It has a very quick learning curve (unlike your other mentioned options), and after the electromagnetic analysis is done you can easily address the SAR results.
Thanks Marcelo! My supervisor is insisting on comsol for some reason. I think CST wil do a better job.
