I am interested in designing a beam steering planar array and would like to know a few techniques to introduce phase difference. I know a transmission line of different lengths could be used to feed the elements but i dont want to use that, please list some other methods. I know inductors and capacitors can be used but I want variable phase and reversible as well.

Once there were "bucket bridge delay lines" and "CCD delay lines" to implement variable delays in the analog domain. I'm not sure about availability and applicability nowadays. Both delay methods could create varying delays by varying the clock that shifted the analog information through the delay line.
On the other hand: if your application allows for delay in the digital domain: have an FPGA generate the delay. You can thing of quite some methods to create delay in the analog domain.
When swapping from "phase shift" to "delay line", the usual search engines should give you sufficient information ...

As we know, Beam Steering concept can be implemented to recover the field pattern of the antenna system by proper correction in relative phases between elements of the array. we can scan the phase using so many methods in which two are very important which we can use,
Diode Phase Shifter
Ferrite Phase Shifter,
Butler Matrix method is the best method for beam steering.

You can use bridge and variable capacitor for manual adjustment. A strip line bridge having one corner input and opposite corner output with two remaining corners are connected through ganged variable capacitor.
