In an institution I visited for my research, they used both ethanol and PBS for extracting cytotoxic compounds from a variety of bacteria. From what I have seen, the ethanolic extracts have far more cytotoxic compounds than the buffer ones but I have little information about the specific types of compounds extracted by either of the solvents. Could someone provide me with an idea? Thank you!
