Dear all,
I am designing an experiment where I will have to treat mice with daily intraperitoneal (ip) injections of aspirin, at a dose of 50 mg/kg per mouse. The mice have an average weight of 25 g and they need to be injected with a volume of 0.1 ml each. The data from various publications are not very clear regarding the solubility of aspirin in various vehicles. Ideally it needs to be dissolved in DMSO as a stock solution and then further diluted in PBS. However, PBS is highly similar to water and the maximum solubility of aspirin in water is 10 mg/ml. The final concentration before injection needs to be 12.5 mg/ml. Do you think it's feasible? Should the addition of Cremophor improve things or I can proceed without it?
