I have to conduct FE analysis of aircraft structure of GFRP material which is of multi layered kindly suggest me how to do modelling of multi layered elements with different material properties in either ANSYS Apdl or ANSYS Work bench
You can chose SHELL281 element for any layered structure. In APDL, use SECDATA to define different layers in which you can provide material properties of each layer, separately. For reference see Verification manual 144.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge can you kindly provide some reference papers or tutorials or any link related to modelling of FRP layers with direction and thickness
Depending on what version of ANSYS FE code are you using, there is a range of element types which you can use. First of all, you can use either Solids (Solid45 in Ansys 11, Solid 185 in ANSYS 14, 15), shell elements by using one shell for every layer or either solidshell elements which are available. The choise is yours
As the other said, shell281 might be a good element for modeling composite in APDL, but if you use Workbench, ANSYS will choose the appropriate element automatically. at the end, I seriously suggest to use ACP (ANSYS Composite Preppost). because it is wonderful in modeling composite especially sub modeling and modeling of thick composites and sandwich panels. ACP could be plugin Workbech easily.
