Today world is such that everyone says that they are busy. What it actually mean All technologies are developed to reduce human effort and to finish the task as soon as possible and to make us free but today situation is such that very rarely following the traditional ceremonies, very rarely visiting our relatives, friends very rarely going to churches, temples and even very rarely or quickly we pray to God. Using technologies we reached space but condition is such that we are not able to reach and interact with our next home neighbor for all questions we have one answer that is I am busy are we really busy kindly share your opinion

I think the answer is twofold: one, people is losing the view of what is really important in life, two, technology gives unnecessary and emergent needing to many people. I like very much my job, science, jazz, chess, netwoking and I think are very useful, but what is most important is the human being, the family, the consciousness..that is the core of the life, I think....is like that most peole live with index outward pointed: they should sometimes point to themself, it would be very healthy. Dear Prabhakar, we are all busy, more busy MENTALLY than physically. But we all learn to MAKE TIME for the things that are IMPORTANT, that includes family, God, church friends, colleagues, students. We organize our time, and reflect on our priorities from time to time, and make little changes here and there.
Yes, every body is busy but it depends what type of business one has? I am busy because I have to teach, do research, do administration as Director of Business School, Chief Warden of the University, and solving problems of students.
No one of our is busy. We are just scattered in our lives as well as we are failed to manage our daily routine. If we just get know importance of things and set priorities of our lives then we will make free time for friends, family and for everyone we want to interact.
It´s not so easy to find a general conclusion. I know a lot of people, I was one of them, who are totally occupied by their job, working even during weekend. They do it because of requirements in the profession, caused by own motivation or by external reasons.
But I also know a lot of humans feeling free or taking out times from time to time. Happy people if they manage it, but often they get problems with their job, they will miss a career.
BTW: All these kind and interesting RG participants here are taking some free time when asking and responding, we all are obviously not busy enough. ;-)
Dear Prabhakar Purushothaman , Thanks for this great question. I shall borrow the title of William Shakespeare's comedy play (Much Ado About Nothing). I strongly believe in the necessity of self-criticism. Science & technology, as you rightly said, are supposed to have added comfort to our life but the opposite has happened. You, I, and all those around use are continuously busy leaving very little time or no time for other worthwhile activities. Instead of easing things, the technology products have been used as tools for more hardship. Many university scholars look forward for a semester to end in order to take a deep breath & when they think about it, they will realize that the effort paid was much more than the gain reaped (again, Much Ado About Nothing) ; and the story is just repeated over & over. We ought to find a solution to this intrinsic problem.
Usually when we respond to someone soliciting our aid, "I am too busy," we mean that we have given the wrong priority to the action that we are performing. When I do something really meaningful to me, I do not feel busy at all, but fulfilled. In English we have the express, "busy as a bee," but I never wish to be busy in the usual mechanical way. Rather, I want to be free to be me, and that means helping someone else in my own inimitable style.

Yes, we are too busy, it is always a matter of shortage of time. Some time-management techniques could help to better organize our time.
I agree with Dr Krishnan Umachandran only our mind set is the reason for the busy any one can make them self free at any time just by changing our mind set and proper prioritizing

I think Yes, we're. We are all busy, mentally and physically.
One is busy to meet with deadlines or agenda; out of this, we set the priorities of the life. Generally we are not so busy all time
Yes, dear Hanno and Fairouz, read around the Q & A of RG. There are volumes of questions and answers. It is enjoyable to participate and we learn a lot from each other. But this is optional leisure time, not required busy time. Those who claim to be "so busy" should perhaps limit a bit of the leisure time and devote it to the busy time.

Of course, yes! Some are busy because they are having work. Some are again busy because they are not having work.
The work is the healthy and sane occupation of each, without real and suitable occupation, one could be very lazy, with the sentiment of being too busy..
Dear Fairouz, Subhash, Prabhakar and all, I have been very busy today. As soon as I punched in this morning, I was told to book a meeting room to have our meeting for marking the mid semester exam. I did that and went off to invigilate the biology paper. Then we met to discuss the marking scheme from 11 am till 1 pm. We all had lunch together, all 33 of us. We marked 2 scripts and handed to the coordinator to ensure that our marking was 'standardized'. After that I went off to invigilate the last exam (computer science). When that was done, I marked several more scripts till 6 pm. I quickly went to the evening market to buy a week's supply of fruits; and I came back home to improve a research paper (that I intended to do today, but had not touched till then) and do some RG. And the routine is about the same every day. But I have time to think of my relatives and good friends, my church friends, neighbors, RG friends, before God's throne.
Congratulation dear Miranda for your efforts, it is healthy to enjoy good work and be useful for others, however you must keep some rest for yourself too, for preventing burn out and be always smart in your occupations.
