Hi Sakthivel - I may be wrong, but wouldn't the only physiological difference between the two be pH? They are most likely have the same pharmacological activity - just you may need to look at the solubility difference between the two.
I agree with Nathaniel. I think that in the literature the employ one term or the other almost indistictively, since when you put the salt form into solution it becomes an acid...
I assume the put valproic acid into the salt form for the pharmacological presentation of the active principle, to achieve the desired bioavailability. But the effects should be the same.
