We want to buy a DNA/RNA synthesizer, which can produce DNA primer, single strand and double strand RNA oligos with various modifications. I don't know which model is easy to use and reliable, are there any suggestions?
Now, I'm not an expert in this field, but I think, that it would be very difficult to recommend any model without any specifications on what you need: Capacity, budget etc.
I mainly want to do RNA synthesis and modifications.. I don't need very high througput or high yied.
ABI 394 used is a good choice, if you want to synthesize yourself. For RNA synthesis, TC chemistry is easiest.
ABI 394 is a very old model, do you have any suggestion on latest machine, how do you think about Mermade 12 and oligo 48? Thanks.
The Mermaid 12 is supposed to take over the 394s, but the MM12 is a little finicky compared to the ABI394s. If you use the MM12 continuously, then it can be great, but the up-time after some off-time can be long. I have not used an oligo 48, but the old ABI3900, now Mermaid 48, I believe is robust, good choice if you make dozens of oligos at once. Regards, Zoli
