Unlike compressed air (CAES or LAES), compressed natural gas stores 50 to 100 times more energy. Just 1 m³ at 1 bar already contains nearly 10 kWh of chemical energy. This makes high-pressure storage of CH₄ particularly attractive for industrial and seasonal applications.
