I want to treat the wastewater having a BOD/COD ratio of about 0.6 by bioreactor. I want to know which bioreactor will be most suitable in the perspective of cost and operation.
Bioreactors are given below;
PBBR packed bed bioreactor
BTF bio trickling filter
MBR membrane bioreactor
MBBR Moving bed bioreactor

It is very much dependent on what type of BOD you have and if they are soluble, particulate, readily available, how much your wastewater has Nitrogen compounds etc.

The BOD to COD ratio is an indicator of the proportion of biologically degradable organic matter to total organic matter. the ratio is important for wastewater containing mixture of domestic and industrial wastewater. HIgh BOD/COD ratio indicates that toxicity is less. Low ratio indicate that toxicity is more. BOD indicates that wastewater has biodegradable content and so difference means non-biodegradable or toxic components are more.
> 0.5 than easily biodegradable
0.4 – 0.5 average biodegradable
0.2 – 0.4 slowly biodegradable
< 0.2 not biodegradable
CODCr/BOD52 – not easily biodegradable
Case 2: If 0.3< BOD/COD > 0.6, seeding is necessary to treat it biologically, as the process is slow and so the acclimation of the microorganisms that will help in the degradation process.
Go for PBBR or BTF. They are suitable for this kind of operation and have a wide use in industrial wastewater treatment.
Other two bioreactors are not cost-effective
