I am trying to induce LTP in mouse hippocampal slices PP-DG pathway, however, I am not sure where to put the stimulating and recording electrodes. Right now, I do the slicing along the long axis of the hippocampus and I can get good fEPSP in CA3-CA1 pathway. But when I put the stimulating electrode in the subiculum and the recording one in DG, I only get the artifact. Should I do the coronal slicing instead?
Hi! The conventional way is to use transverse hippocampal slices. I add the original report by Skrede (1971), who invented the transverse hippocampal slice. Here he gives electrode placement too.

Hello! I fully agree with Bjornar - transverse slices are easier for PP-DG LTP.
I add a paper by Lea et al., which includes a very good picture of correct electrodes placement.
