I am looking for a baculovirus vector expressing calcium reporters in neurons. I know some companies prepare custom viral vectors and sell aliquotes of the most commercial ones. Can anyone indicate me some companies who do that? (possibly in Europe)
Hey Marco. You may want to check these two vector cores which specialize in adeno-associated viral vectors, but may produce baculovirus as well. I know that they both have clients in Europe so shipping vectors to Europe should be no problem.
1. UPENN vector core:

2. UNC vector core:

I hope this helps!
Unless you have a specific reason for using baculovirus, AAVs are probably the best choice for gene delivery to neurons, esp with the help of neuron specific promoters, like human synapsin. We actually just published a paper where we observed a high efficiency of gene delivery to neurons using AAV2/9 vectors driven by synapsin promoter purchased from Upenn vector core.
you can use a bacmam vector with a specific promoter to generate baculovirus that will positively transduce neurons...BACMAM system is better than AAV as it is rapid and you can have transductions of neurons in a couple of weeks from start ..bacmam baculovirus transduces more than 100 types of mammalian cells
