The only problem is that I am looking for an already created line...the company linked from the site seems to only have vectors, clones, etc. but as far as I can tell they don't have live animals (nor can I find any reference for what they did with this strain or if they actually made it). Any insights?

Unfortunately, JAX Labs only has mouse strains, we are looking for a rat strain.

Jennifer, as far as I understand the listed rats have already been created. If you scroll down you will see "If you are interested in any of the rats listed above or would like to recommend a rat to be created, please click the the following link to our Transgenic Rat Request page" and if you click on the request link you will see that the parvalbumin rat is listed as "created rat". The best is to get in touch with them and go from there.

Dear Jennifer, just a note: we made a PV-rat lines using a BAC, but expression was unspecific (expression in all sorts of neurons). Could you let me know about the status of this line (availability and expression pattern) once you have received an answer from them? We are also looking for such a line. Thank you! regards

Hi Kai, the line of pv-cre from NIDA appears to be using a BAC. Currently, they are not available for use (possibly within the year they might be), but currently they are not finished testing this strain. Wish I had more info for you!

I know this is an old post, but if you are still looking for a Parvalbumin-Cre model, Horizon Discovery has one currently in production and it will be available to the public in 2017. One of our scientists will be presenting data on the model at SfN this year in San Diego.

Hi Lara,

I know that Horizon Discovery have one PV-Cre line in production. I am in contact with this company since may 2016, the problem is that the person with which I am in contact told me that this line would be ready in June. In July, she told me again that she are ready to prepare a quotation for us, to buy rat pairs and license for breeding. The only thing she forgot to tell me is....the PV-Cre rats that supposed to be ready in last June will be ''probably'' ready in next February 2017. But now I can not wait 6 more months. I'm so frustrated because I understand that some delay can happen when we work with animals, but she never told me for this big delay. This is why I search for an other place where this line is already available to save my time.

Lydia - I understand your frustration! I was also told last year that the line of PV-cre rats would be ready from NIDA, but it looks like that still isn't the case.. :/ These guys seem hard to find unless you are able to drop a lot of money to have them custom made in small batches...
