We are trying to use the Life Diagnostics Trout HSP70-23 to look at Heat Shock Protein 70 in fish red blood cells to look at physiological changes in response to stressors. I have found very little literature on using red blood cells in ELISA's in general and we have found only one piece of literature that has used an ELISA to measure HSP70 and the methodology is unclear as to how they extracted the protein (and if it is even necessary) before running. Any other literature has been quite varied in how they extracting protein from red blood cells and we are having a hard time landing on the right method. Looking for advice on whether we should be extracting HSP70 from the RBC prior to testing and how to best go about it.
