I'd like to understand better the physiological mechanisms involved in coralliceous encrusting algae grouth ( mainly Lithophyllum spp., Mesophyllum spp., Peyssonnelia spp.) in order to verify if potential correlation to the substrates exists.
Can somebody give me references about this topic?
Are there documented examples of different covering values in literature?
According to my observations, Peyssonnelia is very selective towards substrates. So, on the coast, she prefers granite.
