When preparing organic additives like banana and coconut, can we autoclave it? The compounds will not destroy after autoclaving? If we do filter sterilisation, do some of the compounds eventually not being filtered into media?
For example if you are creating a medium just to stimulate the growth of specific microorganisms you could autoclave them. However, if you are testing the organic additives you can not autoclave, remember that with glucose for example, you filter with a membrane before add it to the medium. It is the same with your other compounds. Use a gauze in the first steps of filtrations to eliminate the bigger compounds and then the syringe filter units.
