01 January 1970 20 7K Report

I have begun to review a manuscript as a part of the peer-review process for a journal. It is clear that the authors began writing a few years ago because of the relatively old citations and because of the information that is in the manuscript. As it happens, I have recently published material that is quite relevant to the subject matter of the manuscript I'm reviewing, and I'm wondering if they have not seen the work because the article came out after they completed the majority of the writing process of their manuscript. So -- is it unethical for me to suggest that they check out my work in the interest of citing the most recent article? Is this a conflict of interest? Would love to hear what people think about this.
