Yes, it "may" be occurring but it might not be as well. Gene expression of enzymes associated with aerobic glycolysis doesn't tell you anything about the flux through that pathway. For me to say aerobic glycolysis is occurring, I would want to see oxygen consumption while providing the cells exclusively simple carbohydrates (e.g., glucose, fructose).
