After the insect feeds, do you have to threat the medium in any way (use an extraction protocol)? can you analyse it directly (using the medium as template)?
I'll be using a real-time PCR protocol for detection.

Thanks Mikael! I'll be using an assay which has worked well for us detecting the phytoplasma in plant tissue and the vector's body. I was more concerned about the extraction protocol, I think I'll be using the methodology for extraction reported in:
