I have found many products in the market stating this, but I have not found any published article that describes this phytotoxicity issue with Plum trees that have been sprayed with an amino acid-based product.
The application of amino acids in crops has been a common practice in recent years, although most of the time they are associated with products based on algae extracts or on fermented animal or vegetable wastes. Phytotoxicity is injury to plants caused by chemicals, including air pollutants, fertilizers, and pesticides. Phytotoxicity from herbicides or other chemicals can cause symptoms resembling damage from drought or water deficit, excessive soil salinity, and leaf-spot pathogens. The use of abscission compounds to loosen fruit from stems can be accompanied with various levels of phytotoxicity. Avoid phytotoxicity by applying pesticides and other chemicals carefully, as directed on the product label.

Pablo Canales-Prati Some amino acid-based products and other "green" agents can stimulate high plant immune reaction that is highly similar to phyto-toxic effect. I have seen at least five such cases.
