after 3D design of all components of the Heat Exchanger geometry we do assembly and finalization of the geometry, in CFD analysis we change the boundary conditions and it refers us to the geometry again, recycling this process is time consuming, and sometimes we may repeat the same mistake which we had before, what could be a good optimistic procedure for validation test, to avoid wasting time and energy on mistakes which we have already come across, to prevent repeating it.
Try using software in which CAD design and CFD modeling are integrated (like in Autodesk Inventor). That way you don't have to switch between software packages.
Also, proper quality management and documentation helps.
Sorry but I didn't understand clearly your question. When you create a geometry in a CAD software and you export it to a CFD comercial code like fluent, the boundary condition can be change without return to the CAD. the solution of Leander could be a good option but probably the last version of ANSYS is a better option because the new geometry developer included is very similar to AD Inventor. However at the end, when you design a new heat exchanger surface and you need test it always the best option is create the physical domain and make the experiment in a wind tunnel, of course it is expensive.
