Should be ok.

It looks like it is not standardized. Another recipe found in Cancer Res September 1, 2005 65; 7866 says: 100 mL of 70% alcohol, 10 mL formalin, and 5 mL glacial acetic acid.

In other references they do not even mention the percentages, so it seems that Fekete's solution is understood as the presence of ethanol, formaldehyde and acetic acid in water. I assume that whatever Fekete´s "original recipe" was, these must be adapted/improved versions.

I would use the formula as you found (in my example the total volume is not 100 mL either).

Yes you need to add dH2O to make up the volume to 1 Liter.

I do have a recipe for you.

Fekete’s Solution Recipe

700ml/L 100% ethanol

32 ml/L 37% formalin

40ml/L glacial acetic acid

dd water to 1L

Please place a 1 Liter graduated cylinder on the bench.

Add 40 ml of glacial acetic acid.

Add 32 ml of (37%) formalin.

Add 700 ml of (100%) ethanol.

Then add distilled water or double distilled water to make up the volume to 1 liter. This will be your Fekete’s Solution.

I am just curious... Where do you get 100% Ethanol? I guess that you refer that the formula is recalculated for pure ethanol, but I doubt that is convinient to buy expensive ethanol (vs. 70% or 95%) if later you add th water...
