Apart from the possible disconnection of the modern variable speed wind turbines, from the grid, during low-voltage events, I wanted to know what other factors can be referred to as the non-compliance of the wind turbines to the low-voltage ride through regulations of a system operator. It can be assumed that the wind turbines are supposed to work in active power priority mode during low-voltages. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Based on many international grid codes, such designs are not allowed to be integrated in a power grid if their sizes are either medium, or large. This is for avoiding the contribution of these generating facility to the system instability even if they are operating in secondary frequency support mode. Small-scale wind farms having the mentioned capability limitations may be allowed to be connected to utility grid as they are not expected to support the grid. The scale here is based on the rated capacity of the hosting system.
The uncertainties which are predominant for forcing the system to be disconnected are 1.Rotor Over Current 2. Stator Over current 3.DC-Link Over Voltage 4. Electromagnetic torque oscillations. These uncertainties are the major noncompliance
