What will be the chi squared value for best fit of time-resolved fluorescence decay?

I am getting different values of chi squared during time-resolved PL decay fitting. Some literature reports indicate chi square value should be below 1.3.

Thanks Dr. Kapusta. But I observe that distribution of residuals is good in case of less x2 value. These two parameters are related to each other. I found some other literatures in which they contradict each other about the x2 value.
