Do you think it is appropriate to use Novolin R insulin (typically used for in vivo) for an in vitro or tissue explant model? I am trying to comb through methods when people have done glucose uptake assays to see what kind of insulin they used, and it seems like a lot of people use recombinant human insulin dissolved in HCl solution. Frankly, I don't see a big difference between using that vs. using Novolin R in cell culture or tissue explant, but feel free to weigh in.
