What synaptic protein (located in the pre-synapse, post-synapse or both) is expressed during the formation of synapse, then it is lost (e.g. degrade) after the formation of synapse?
There are some synaptic proteins located in pre-, post-synapse or both, now i did not know which protein is expressed during the development of synapse. I think this protein should be existed.
In disease, synaptic loss accompanied by decrement of synaptophysin or PSD-95, which are famous markers. But considering developmental change, one possible thinking might be membrane cargos. During synaptogenesis, it required a lot of membrane to be moved to the polarized location of neuron. I could not find the paper now, but in Journal of Neuroscience, there is a paper talking about synaptogenesis and membrane trafficking. Hope you will find it helpful.
