Deuteroporphyrin dimethylester (and not deuteroporphyrin dihydrochloride) is hydrophobic and cannot be dissolved in water.
what is the suitable solvent to dissolve it?
Like prefers like so try a system such as ether. A few beaker tests with solvents such as ethyl acetate may also be helpful. Have you tried hexane (non-polar)? This is likely to be unsuccessful but you'll learn something from this.
As Mr. Alan said, it will be soluble in ethyl-, methyl acetates and also in dimethylacetamide, chloroform.
thank you all. I will try it
I want to try deuteroporphyrin on suspension cells. So do you know if these organic solvents (hexane, ethyacetate, chloroform...) are cytotoxic ?
They can be cytotoxic even their Acute toxicity is low (for example LD50 Ethyl acetate is 4100 mg/kg [Mouse])
Please, search and see the cytotoxicity of these organic solvents from researches. Article The cytotoxicity of some organic solvents
thank you for your helpful answer
