In regards to your question, we have to understand beforehand about the aim of floating DDSs. As we know that floating drug delivery systems (FDDSs) are expected to remain buoyant in a lasting way upon the gastric contents and consequently to enhance the bioavailability of drugs. These floating microspheres have the advantage that they remain buoyant and distributed uniformly over the gastric fluid to avoid the vagaries of gastric emptying and release the drug for prolonged period of time. So that, regarding to your question (release study), I would suggest you to use pH 1.2. You can use USP type-II apparatus (rotating paddle) or its modification, simulating the condition of gastric.

I too agree with Raditya Iswandana to use 0.1N HCl, however, there is a need to add little wetting agent like Tween 80 (0.05%) in to the dissolution media. This will avoid or clear the doubt that floating may be due to non wettability of the particles.

So use 0.1N HCl with 0.05% Tween

Acidic media to simulate stomach condition,, so I think it should be close to the pH of the stomach.

For me, I don 't care about the pH of the sysytem. I care about as follows (1) the density of FDDS that must be less than the gastric pH (2) Some FDDS needs to be more swelled by gastric pH than medium or alkaline pH.

Floating systems are widely used for drug release in stomach. According to my limited information, intestinal floating systems are impossible. Therefore, drug release will be analyzed using acidic condition with or without enzymes.
