I am currently doing a psychometric evaluation on Ryff's PWB. In my convergent validity scale, should the instrument still on on PWB or shift to a hedonistic SWB? Thank you!
Going by the definition of Convergent validity, I would suggest that you stick to a tool that measures the same (or at least operationally similar) construct as the Ryff's PWB scale, which deals with PWB itself. In short, use a PWB tool.
With regard to using a tool for Hedonistic SWB, you are more likely to be looking for Discriminant Validity.
It is always best to work towards maximizing your evidence. I agree with Chinchu that you should simultaneously show convergent and divergent validity using scales that respectively measure homogeneous content that is similar and dissimilar. It is always best to have theory drive your analyses. You need to hypothesize, apriori, why one scale should be correlated and another, uncorrelated. Good luck.
