Hi all,

I'm trying to do some basic propagation of light sources through an optical scheme, however, I'm not sure how to define the electric field for the different sources. I want to start with an incoherent source, then a completely coherent source and move on eventually to partially coherent sources (e.g. Gauss-Schell), however I've never really studied this topic before and don't really know where to start with defining the electric field of the source. Can anyone give an example of some different source electric fields or recommend some notes that discuss this?
