An inactivated (e.g., by UV radiation) virus loses its ability to multiply itself in a host cell. But if its capsid is not damaged, it can penetrate into the cell. Is it known what processes take place in a cell after an inactivated virus gets there, and how do these processes differ from the situation when the same virus enters the cell in its normal active state?
