During the growth kinetics study conductivity negativity is increase with respect to days of incubation. As a biological i am not reaching to any conclusion? How this info help to my microalgal research work?
That is an interesting use, Dr. Abomohra. I might use it as a simple demonstration of cell disruption in classes, in parallel with total protein release.

Conductivity depends of the charge carriers (ions) in the solution. I would expect an initial decrease in conductivity because of fast absorption of nitrate, and a certain buffering effect of citrate; that decrease may be sustained by the absorption of cations such as Mg and Ca. However, the uptake of cations and anions may be substituted by H3O+ or OH-, and that could change the pH while maintaining or even rising (because of the mobility of these small ions) the conductivity. This is, however, speculative: I know for a fact that nutrient concentration decreases, from analyses of the cultures, but did not measure conductivity. Can you set up an experiment?
