The teacher's first tasks in teaching are: (1) to define and then (2) to provide examples, or in reverse order to (3) to provide examples and (4) from the examples to define.
According to me, a teacher should make their students aware about the significance of environmental sustainability and then motivate them to play their part to maintain the same.

If the teacher has only a love for the student, like a father, a mother, he will be better than the teacher who has read all the books, but has no love for the cause, or for the students. If the teacher combines love for work and students, he is a perfect teacher. "
Depends on the involved players. If you have facilitators aside the teachers than the teachers' role simplifies to transfer the knowledge and make sure the knowledge can impact at behavioural level. If you lack facilitators their role should be assumed by teachers changing from teacher to teacher-trainer-coach. Since this second role involves multiple types of interventions the success rate of this approach is lower for all obvious reasons. There are more variables to be discussed beyond the presence/absence of the facilitators.
Role of teacher is very important as they have to sustained the code of the environment of the function as a teacher .While carrying out the responsibility as teacher they have not to perform their action as a teacher only on the academic level , as they have to judge the performance of the students & also to evaluate in the line of their performance & in case if it is necessary for the students who upgrade his action as a student in such cases certain psychic tech which may help the student to maintain their performance under the confidence .

Teacher are trained to teach, counsel and to mentor. In performing their roles in the society, they need to educate their students the importance of the environment to their existence, reason to keep it safe and their role as individual and group towards sustainable environment. With appropriate methodology and creative awareness, the students will be eager to play a major role to keep the world save as long as they intend to survive.
Providing a healthy and sustainable environment is the goal of many countries around the world to achieve the highest environmental health and safety standards for their communities. The teacher is one of the basic pillars required to build that environment.
Personally I teach biodiversity to students of the second class /Department of Biology and try as much as possible to clarify the importance of sustainability and environmental balance and we are all responsible and from our site to preserve the environment and resources.

Then tackle the detail in a particular sector--- like my own which is architecture. where energy, water, pollution and waste are big issues.
Encourage students ti be curious and look widely for solutions. Nature can teach us a lot because it optimises energy and the use of materials besides stimulating cross lateral thinking. In my area biomimetic architecture is emerging as a substantial area of study and research.
History like vernacular architecture for example can teach us lessons from the past as people have found ingenious ways of dealing with the various climates across the world.

I suggest that all teachers from all areas should consider the item sustainability in their classes. A professor of chemistry or mathematics can teach much his students about the various nuances of sustainability. This should be exercised in all areas of science. I am opposed to the terms only a traando discipline in this matter.

Western education systems continue to operate as a major constituting force of the contemporary unsustainability. The role of the teacher is to help the student know and feel, both explicitly and tacitly, that the world is not simply a collection of matter to be manipulated, but rather the ground that constitutes us as peoples. This revised 'teaching' will involve questioning more than abstract knowledges and theoretical frameworks. Teachers must also shift the students' implicit relationships with the material world.
Generally teachers take care of their curriculum. A maths teach cannot tell about environment likewise a physics teacher also. Natural science or biology teachers can educate about environment, that too if that particular topic present in curriculum. Otherwise it is better to introduce a subject so that everybody read/study and know how to maintain/protect the environment.
Sustainability training rises to a crucial role in training of future educators and teachers. Educating is an extremely complex task, it includes: skills, ability to ponder and criticize, teaching, training, understanding and planning, communicating and the ability to be a guide for those in training. Educators are very special professionals, they promote empowerment and freedom, they have the task to develop the potential of the person-in-education, as this job is both art and science at the same time.
