I found this paper also used this method in the isolation of bile acids. It is more recent 2015. My advice is to follow their plans, you could also contact the corresponding author if you need further information. Good luck.

I would like to extract bile acids from feces as well. Is there anything new? How did you solve the problem? Which method did you use?
