What is the reason behind less quantity of nanoparticles in nanomembrane filters contaminated water more effectively compared to high concentration ?

I am curious why 0.1 gm of nanoparticles dissolved in 2.0 gram/20 ml of PVA thick suspension ( thin film nanomembrane) filters contaminated water less affectively as compared to 0.05 gm of nanoparticles used in 2.0 gram/20 ml of PVA thick suspension (membrane). Please help me out in resolving this curiosity. Thank you
